O mankind, you are those in need of Allah, while Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy. (Surah Fatir [35:15])
Like reproach, praise is always unavoidable in life. Whether someone or something, there will be a time that we admire and praise. Beauty, generosity, strength, wealth, ingenuity, or tenderness are some of the things worthy of praise from someone.
Likewise with objects such as cars, houses, and cellphones; often inviting admiration and praise either because of the beauty of the shape or price. Animals and plants too are often to be praised for their agility, beauty or high prices.
As humans, we usually praise; and stingy men are usually shortsighted and disliked.
But do we realize that there are those who deserve the highest praise above all? He is indeed invisible but his work can be witnessed by almost all humans. The high mountain, the breadth of the sky, the depth of the ocean, the diversity of the human race, or the extraordinary wealth of minerals contained in a barren plain? Who made it possible? He is Allah Al-Hameed or The Praiseworthy.
Then imagine someone’s prayer granted. He who had almost died in an accident turned out to be safe. Someone who has long been in a coma turns out to be aware and healthier than before. The person who was about to be killed but was saved by a stranger. Who allows all that to happen? He is Al-Hameed or the The Praiseworthy, so praise Him with the highest praise and have faith in Him.
