Alhamdulillah we’ve done sunnah prayer behind Maqam Ibrahim; Conveys all intentions to the God of the Universe. As I sat watching the pilgrims; No matter how tycoon they may, with abundant wealth and noble positions, all in earnest in the hope of God’s blessings. The individual hope and salvation of the world and the hereafter are common requests. Tears and vibrations of the soul are common; who does not need God’s help? May He grace our prayers.
Pleased with the prayer, we were heading towards the entrance of Masa’ (place to perform sa’i) which walls and the floors are all white. On both sides of the room is a row of drums full of zamzam water. People came to the drums either to drink or to wash their heads. Don’t need to count the number; plenty.
“Ladies and gentlement, please drink your zamzam first. After that, wash the head.” I instructed the pilgrims to perform one of the sunnah (the act, words, and approval of prophet Muhammad) before the implementation of sa’i. The pilgrims soon filled the plastic cups with cold and fresh zamzam water, facing the qibla and praying as the example of the prophet,
(Allahumma inni as’aluka ilman naafian, wa rizqon waasi’an, wa syifaan min kulli daa’in.)
“O Allah I plead to You on useful science and extensive sustenance and healing from various diseases.”
After drinking we washed our heads. There is no problem for men because we are forbidden to wear headdresses during ihram. As for the women, they just scoop up the water and wipe it within the hijab (veil) or directly scrub on it. Any of them are allowed, in sha ‘Allah; as long as not open the aurat (private part of body such hair) in public.
The water of zamzam has a virtue as explained by the Prophet,
“Narrated from Jabir and Ibn ‘Abbas (both are the companions who lives with the prophet), the Prophet peace be upon him said,” Zamzam water, depending on the intention of the person who drank it.”
Not only can be used as a means to ask for something to Allah; zamzam also the best medicine on earth and the most satiate and most healthy foods,
“Narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas, the Prophet peace be upon him said,” The best water in the earth is Zamzam. Inside is a filling food and an antidote.”
