Dear friends, allow me to explain about a matter that you find surprising. You asked us why we refrain from eating and drinking from dawn to sunset; When nothing has prevented us from doing it?
And you also surprised because we refrain from our wife o
r husband during the day when anyone knows we have been formally married?
And you are also curious, why in this one month (Ramadan) we compete in worship; Seems to just let go of this world?
Well, every Muslim who loves Allah and His messenger believes in the truth words of the Messenger of Allah,
مَن صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيْمَانًا وَاحتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِن ذَنْبِهِ
“Whoever fasts Ramadan on the basis of faith and expects rewards from Allah, then his past sins will be forgiven.” (Narrated by Bukhari 38 and Muslim No. 760) narrated from Abu Hurairah.
We are willing to make war with our personal ego to expect Allah’s forgiveness. We were also willing to curb personal passions, knowing that Allah and His messenger never lied. What Allah promises is a truth even we may not have seen it yet. What the Messenger of Allah ordered was the truth because he did not deliver the message of religion except from God. We also want to imitate the companions of the apostles who are always submissive to what Allah and His apostles say; They become the best generation and will never be surpassed by any generation.
Dear friends, basically what Allah commanded us in the month of Ramadan is no different from the other months. It is true that our obligation to fast a whole month is not found in other months; But the command to control lust always prevails in every time and place. The month of Ramadan becomes special because that is the time Allah revealed the Qur’an which is a guide for anyone who wants salvation in the world and the hereafter.
“Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur’an, as guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance judgement (between right and wrong)…” (Al-Baqarah: 185)
A believer is forbidden to put the passions of the Qur’an and sunnah (teaching) of prophet Muhammad. If our ego and desires are in conflict with the Qur’an and sunnah then our obligation is to submit to the Qur’an and sunnah.
Consider this, always indulge lust may looks beautiful. But actually it is beautiful only at the beginning. The farthest we walk the more we surrounded by sorrow and regret.
Dear friends, there is nothing that prevents you from enjoying the beauty of Ramadan. Be a moslem and let’s run this holy month together. You will find this holy month as the most beautiful moment of your life, in sya ‘Allah.
